We're a fast-growing manufacturing startup looking for an experienced Controller to step in and take assist in the structure of our financial operations. This is a high-impact contract role for a finance professional who thrives in ambiguous environments, loves building from scratch, and can operate as both a strategic partner and a hands-on operator. You'll work directly alongside our Director of Finance to ensure strategic alignment, support ongoing initiatives, and help build a high-functioning accounting team and reporting structure fit for scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Partner with the Director of Finance to ensure alignment across financial strategy, priorities, and deliverables
  • Lead and support the implementation of NetSuite — including data migration, chart of accounts setup, workflow configuration, and team training
  • Audit and streamline existing accounting processes and procedures, identifying gaps and inefficiencies and driving improvements
  • Define and build out the accounting team's organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities
  • Develop and own management reporting frameworks — including dashboards, KPIs, and recurring financial packages for leadership
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end
  • Design and implement scalable internal controls and finance policies from the ground up
  • Develop cost accounting systems suited to manufacturing operations (BOM, WIP, COGS)
  • Manage accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and cash flow
  • Ensure tax compliance and coordinate with external auditors and advisors
  • Partner with operations to track production costs, variances, and margins

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years in accounting or finance roles, including controller-level experience
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth company (pre-Series C preferred)
  • Hands-on manufacturing or product-based business background required
  • Demonstrated experience building or overhauling finance processes and procedures
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience required; implementation experience strongly preferred
  • Track record building or restructuring accounting teams
  • Experience developing management reporting structures and financial dashboards
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP; CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management
  • Comfortable operating as a collaborative partner to senior finance leadership
